So What is My Future?

Does God have anything to say about my personal future?

Yes, He does. God loves everybody and addresses everybody with His statements of what is to happen in the future in everybody's life depending upon what choices they make. I Corinthians 10:11 and Romans 15:4 tell us that the whole Bible is focused on our time – the end of the world. Understanding this and depending upon your choices, you can read your future in Scripture.

We read about the experience of Jesus in Scripture:

John 1:10,11

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not

Jeremiah 31:3:

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Since Jesus never fails if you surrender your life to Him you can be certain the rest of your life may be one of victory. Jesus is both the Author and the Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Because there is no variability or even a shadow of turning with Jesus (James 1:17) the only uncertainty in our future is whether we will stay in God's plan for my life, and stay in the training school God has me in to change my character to be like His own.

Psalms 107:43:

Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

Psalms 103:4:

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Jeremiah 29:11:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

What is God's prediction in Scripture about my “expected end”?

1. You can expect to reap what you have sown:

Galatians 6:7:

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

2. You can expect to reach the end of the path you are traveling to be certain

Proverbs 4:18:

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 22:29:

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean (ordinary, average) men.

The word “mean” in the KJV Bible is translated from the Hebrew word that Strong's Concordance numbers 2823 which means “obscure” or average or common people.

Proverbs 3:6:

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 20:21:

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Amos 8:10:

And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

3. You may experience unexpected things to happen to you:

Ecclesiastes 9:11:

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Hebrews 5:8:

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

What did Jesus suffer?

John 1:11:

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Isaiah 53:3:

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

II Timothy 1:12:

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

4. If you are willing and obedient God will bring good out of whatever happens to you:

Romans 8:28:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

II Timothy 1:14:

That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
